The Challenge

Land Securities had been working with BBP prior to its merger with a&dc. From this relationship, and the continuing relationship with a&dc, there was a wealth of assessment data available about those in leadership positions. Land Securities wanted to understand more about what this data could tell them, so they engaged with a&dc to review and analyse the information. This provided them with talent analytics data regarding group level trends and organisational insights, and also individual summary information regarding personal learning and behaviour change.

The Solution

We supported Land Securities using our knowledge of assessment tools and our expertise in talent analytics. After initially gathering and sorting the available data, we were able to conduct both qualitative and quantitative evaluations of the available information. We provided dashboard information detailing performance for the individuals, as well as how they performed against the average of the standard group. Assessment tools were linked together to provide overall talent analytics regarding behavioural performance derived from expert behavioural observations, peer and line manager ratings, self-rated personality questionnaires and core intelligence.

We used various statistical tests to determine the extent to which the different tests used as part of the assessments differentiated performance, indicated differential sub-group performance and were the strongest predictors of performance. A qualitative analysis, was also conducted of the key strengths and development areas as highlighted in a pre- and post-development intervention. This provided information about the specific detail of where improvements had occurred and where additional support was still required.

The Results

Through this evaluation and analysis we were able to provide Land Securities with talent analytics reports for each individual and the whole group that showed them:

  • The extent to which competency performance had improved from before and after their development solution, both for individuals and the group as a whole
  • What assessment tools were most predictive of workplace performance
  • What additional development support might be required to help these leaders to succeed
  • How their leaders compared against internal and external benchmarks of leadership performance
